Visibly light-curable embedding resin D-800
Embedding resin with a short curing time and minimal heat generation.
Epoxy resins, methacrylate resins, and styrene resins are commonly used for embedding samples in electron microscopy. These resins offer many advantages, including ease of handling and thin-sectioning, high resistance to electron beam irradiation, and minimal deformation. However, thermosetting epoxy and methacrylate resins require heating at 60°C for 10–24 hours for complete curing. Even UV-polymerizable styrene resins, which do not require heating, still require 3 hours of UV irradiation for polymerization. Visibly light-curable resins are particularly useful for samples that are heat-sensitive and difficult to embed with conventional resins because they cure in a short time (10–60 seconds), minimizing the effects of heat generated during resin polymerization.
